Us Day Training Tips
The United Nations, a global organization dedicated to keeping peace among the world's countries, was made on October 2-4, 1945. That month, then, would be an excellent time to focus on how-to settle disagreements and learn something in regards to the U.N. Here are a few suggestions:
1. Read this excerpt of the U.N. Charter and examine what it means:
We the peoples of the United Nations determine...to stay together in peace with one another as good neighbors, to benefit the equal rights of men and women and of nations large and small, and to encourage better standards of life.
2. Try making your personal criss-cross puzzle in the underlined words in the excerpt above.
3. Connect the word 'equal' for the description learned in z/n.
4. Research to obtain the member countries of the United Nations and write them down. Place them in alphabetical order; count the syllables in the names; find them in an atlas, after they are written and make note in their geographical location (which continent has the most people? The smallest amount of members? ); make tally marks representing each country and practice counting by 5's and 10's. Which countries were charter members? Which countries were added later? Learn more about each country-by breaking your class in to groups.
5. Unscramble the names of these member countries:
DESWEN, LAPNOD, GARTENANI, SUITARALA, DIANI, GEPTY, TRAGE TRABINI, NADACA, HACNI, TENUDI TASSET
Now put these letters, in the countries above, in consecutive order to create two words telling what the Un is working toward:
